A. Your name doesn't appear on Voting List at your Poll.  ASK for a
Provisional Ballot because by law it must be provided.  Don't walk away.

B. Do you speak English, Spanish or Arabic? ASK for Voting Ballot  instructions in your home language. Poll Supervisors CAN provide a ballot in    these languages.

C. I am who I say I am...Take your ID or ASK for an Affidavit at the Poll.
These days you must prove your identity with a:
  • Michigan Driver's License
  • State or Michigan Personal Identification
  • Out of State Driver's License or Personal ID Card that is current!
  • Federal or State issued Photo Identification, unexpired
  • U. S. Passport, unexpired
  • Military-Photo Identification Card, current
  • Current High School or College-Photo Student ID Card
  • Tribal Identification-Photo Card
OR - Complete and Affidavit of Voter 'Not In Possession' of Picture Identification   to receive a Regular Ballot (non-provisional).

Served Time, Awaiting Trial, Convicted Felon ... You Can Vote IF:
You have served your time, received release with or without probation. Just make sure you originally registered to vote - ASK the Department of Elections to Check your registration & Register in time if you've never done so.

You're held in jail, non-convicted, awaiting trial or arraignment: ASK for an Absentee Ballot as this status doesn't deny your right to vote via absentee.  Michigan election law: O'Brien v. Skinner, 414 US 524; 94S Ct 740, 38 L Ed2D702 (1974) and Arlee v. Wayne County Sheriff 55 Mich. App 340; 222 NW 2d 233 (1974).

You are serving time due to conviction - If serving your sentence during an election season you CANNOT vote based on Michigan Law "Const. 1963, Art. 2, Sec. 2; 1954 PA 116, sec. 758b; MCL 168.758b; MSA 6.1758(2).
